View Full Version : Cash Account saved in Quicken Premier 2006?
Can someone please tell me whether Quicken Premier 2006 saves cash accounts
when doing a backup. I know that Quicken 2004 would not save my cash account
when I did my monthly backups.
Thank You

I don't understand. How are you doing your backups? All the backup in Q does
is copy the account files in their entirety to the specified location. Can
you give more details on what exactly happens??

Quicken has been saving my cash account for years. And I have upgraded
every year since Q 3.0 for DOS. What kind of backups are you doing that it
is missing accounts? Very strange indeed.

Margaret

Thank you for the reply. As for the Cash Account file, I normally backup to
a CDR.I just replaced my hard drive and after reloading Quicken 2004, I did
a file restore and did get my checking and both credit cards, but no cash
account. Ill probably update to Quicken 2006, But If I'm unable to backup my
cash account, I wont bother.I'm using Windows XP Home SP2. FWIW

Are you saying you keep your cash account in a separate file? If it's in a
separate file from that of your checking and credit card accounts (don't
know why you'd want this), you have to back each file up separately and
restore them both.
Several of us have asked for details on how you back up, yet all we know is
that you back up to a CDR. It sounds from your latest post that you're
blaming Quicken for not backing up one of your accounts, so let me explain a
bit about how Quicken stores its information. Each Quicken "file" is
actually a file set that comprises a database of all your accounts. The
only way Quicken could possibly be missing accounts when backing up is if
you keep your accounts in separate file sets. And if that's the case, you
need to back up each set. Quicken only backs up the current file set, that
is, the one you have open on your screen.
Please provide more details on how you have your file(s) set up, how you
back up, etc., if you'd like us to help with your problem.

Margaret
