Hello there,
my printer prints pretty odd and wonder what may gone wrong.
The first page prints ok with black stripes, the second and the
following pages are dark printed. But the text will be printed still
too. So what the heck is going on with my printer? Do i have to repair
it or is it just the toner?
Please, help. I already tried several webpages, but nothing seems to
fit my problem.

Joerg

Do you mean that your text appears as white on a black background???
Otherwise look inside - you probably have a toner leak.

Not even the 3rd question on this page?
http://www.brother.com/usa/printer/faq/html/1040-gen.html

or the Euro-version single-question page?
http://www.brother.com/europe/printer/faq/hl1040/1040-gen3.html

I have an old Samsung laser that had vertical lines all over the place,
some pencil-tin, some a 1/2 inch wide, so I took the toner cartridge
apart enough to get to the "corona wire", gave it a good brushing to
get the old toner dust off, and no more lines.

You only need to slide a blue tab back and forth a few times.

The blue tap? Ok. Will do..
But to my suprise, it works again. Strange. Well, its an old printer
anyhow. :)
