I need to open a large number of files, change all geometry to the
color white, and re-save the drawing.
Can someone suggest a way to automate this?

Use a script; or better, a LISP routine that writes a script, based on the
contents of a Windows folder. For an example similar to what you describe,
see RESAVE.LSP at
