I am considering using QB for a small non-profit organization, but find the
selection process very confusing and very little real comparison
information. I see the Premier and the Pro versions along with some they
call the Accounting versions of the above. Where can one go to get a
handle on this?
Our requirement is largly to get access to something capable of handling
accruals which our currrent version of Quicken cannot do. Or, if it can, I
don't know how to make it work.
Thanks, Ted S.

Thanks, but quickbooks.com is - along with intuit.com - a major part of
the problem. Neither of them is consistent with their names for
products nor with their comparison tables. They make it impossible to
make any sort of intelligent choice.

I think what you really need is consultation with a competent
professional accountant. An accrual is nothing more than recording a
customer invoice or vendor bill before they are actually issued or
received. Quicken can do that, although I certainly would not
recommend it for your purposes. Any version of QuickBooks (or any
other bookkeeping software that I have ever seen) can also "handle
accruals".
Admittedly the feature comparisons at http://www.QuickBooks.com do not
provide details of all of the hundreds of features, but if you are so
confused about the Premier and Pro versions then you really do need
some help other than just an alternative website. For what it's
worth, the Premier editions include a "standard" Premier edition and a
number of "custom" industry-specific editions; among the latter are a
Non-Profit and an Accountant edition. There is only one Pro version,
there is no "Pro Accountant" edition. If you were unable to determine
that much from the website then I repeat my recommendation that you
seek professional help.
If, by "handling accruals", you mean the ability to automatically
generate reversing journal entries - a feature that is often, but not
necessarily, associated with accruals - then I believe that only the
Accountant edition has that specific feature.

If your only need is the ability to keep accrual basis books then choose the
version requiring the smallest investment.

@news20.bellglobal.com:
Thanks for the tips. I suspect the 'pro' version is all I need because
I am highly suspicious of anything 'automatic'. I will attempt to
locate a competent accountant, but doubt we'll be able to communicate
much. They speak in foreign tongues which my ears cannot decode.
Thanks for your thoughts,
