Greetings and Salutations

This is a fine "how do ya do?"

I need to look up stock symbols, Quicken wants to connect to the
internet. No problem.

Except it can't find the net, even when a connection has already been
opened.

Get back a message with "Error 2500, Browser settings have not been
set." and "The URL for this ... blah blah."

Is this just another example of Intuit being dependent on Internet
Exploder solely for connectivity?

Oh, and for what it is worth, Quicken is able to get online updates.

tech data: WinXP Home, Quicken 2001, Mozilla Firefox 1.0, dial up account
with Earthlink.net (nee Mindspring.com)

Could be.
But why would firewall issues cause the browser settings to not be set?
I'm confused, and of course, there's nothing easily found in the help file
related to the issue. Nerts.

I'm a little torqued - apparently Quicken thinks that I have no need to
be able to track what's in my 401k, and trying to find out what stocks have
what symbols.... argh.
