View Full Version : No pdf capability in Quicken 2004?

In Q2002 Deluxe, I used to always output my reports to a pdf file. I
can find no place to select pdf as the printer in 2004 Deluxe. Of
course, they've never had the normal dropdown selection for the printer,
but at least earlier, I could change my default printer to pdf and when
I was finished change it back. Am I missing it?
Secondly, I see no capability to change the font face and size on the
reports in 2004.
Am I blind?
Thx,
Cynthia

I must be blind also. I use Q2002 Deluxe and all I see is ASCII Disk
File, Tab-delimited Disk File and 123 (.PRN) Disk File. How do you get
pdf files?

In my Q2002 H&B under the File menu there is a Printer Setup option.
You can choose different printers for three type of jobs.

In Q2002 Deluxe, there are only two type of jobs, "For Reports/Graphs"
and "For Printing Check". In any case, I see options for PDF files.

In Q2002 H&B I have:
For Reports/Graphs
For Printing Checks
For Printing Invoices
I'm not surprised that the Invoices option is unique to H&B, as a
non-business user would not need to prepare invoices.
You see or don't see the PDF option? If not, it is probably because Q
does not have built-in PDF capability and you need to have a PDF print
driver installed.

You'll need to install some kind of a PDF creation program. Acrobat
Distiller (not part of the free Acrobat Reader) is Adobe's product but
there are quite a number of third party ones available now.

Ah ha! It's a feature of Windows that was added by an Abobe software
package and has nothing to do with Quicken.

Any Macintosh running OS X has the ability to make PDF files from any
application.

Google and download Primopdf, PDF995 or any number of freeware or
shareware PDF printer drivers. Then you will have the ability to choose
to print to a pdf file from any application.
