Hi Per, I know you from the boatbuilding newsgroup from 4 yrs ago ;)
Unfortunaly we can not change to way the boats are build to the way we
use computers :) They are 42/100 ft luxery motoryachts, kind of custom
build.
So they do a mock interiour, then transfer that to plywood etc. I want
to digitize those mock templates. But to be cost effective the big
50.000 euro digitizers are out of the question (yet).

But this is on the line i am thinking of, just a little to small:

It is not enough to ask yourself if you feel lucky, you must know what you want.
If you want to stay with the technologies develobed during the past centuries,
you stay with tradisional 3-Plane construction and when you ask a new design,
it was already top technology 16 years ago, to router an expensive block of
polyurethane foam for weeks, with an 3D devise the cost of a farm bringing you a
foam boat.
-------- This is using Digital technology supporting another technology, a
petrochemic one. Maby tyo rather want small fragile models, for another copy
process, made from a special plastic , then these options been there for decades
to , ---------- there is more 2,5 D with this than 3D, and the "direct link" to
production is thin, as who want a foam boat and a handle that break while it
realy shuld be made in steel.
3D-Honeycomb is a different world than the tradisional methods just placed in
computer code and run at high speed. It is a totaly different concept, bringing
you a boat in a compleatly different aproach , -------- each boat will be much
cheaper to produce, they will be stronger, more efficient looking and acting , a
complete different aproach ,one that show trust in technology and carry modern
lines.
Stay put with the foam boat, sheet material is cheaper than ever and no one
proberly pay, for a modern challancing design, in modern materials. Guess new
style will not sell and attitude is not important. Also core transparent quality
proberly will not even be seen as a good investment.
3D-H is not a Digital technology that just support a bigger petrochemic
industry. Still there proberly be no idear, building at a third, four times as
strong, from way cheaper sheet materials -
