I need to create a surface that I can then show on a cross section of
road. I have existing ground from points imported, now I need a rock
line. I have borehole reports of 15 metres left and 15 metres right
of centerline. These reports go to NFP (No further penetration) or
bedrock. The boreholes are every 25 meters. Any ideas on how to get
this information into my drawing? Any help would be greatly
appreciated!

A quick & dirty way I use is to place AutoCAD point elements where the
testholes were drilled, at the original ground elevation. Then more
them down by the level indicated in each log. (I created a lisp
program where it asks you to pick a point, then asks you for it's
elevation)

You can create a surface from the points. I like to create two
surfaces - one at the beginning of the rock & another at refusal, as
we have to pay the contractor a different amount for soft rock work &
then much more for firm rock and/or blasting. Be aware that this
method will have some error built into it. If the surface is
relatively flat, it works very well. If the slopes are steeper or you
have some ditches or rolling hills, a greater amount of time should be
spent with the surface modeling if you're looking for pretty good
accuracy. I know there are better ways with LDD or Eagle Point &
perhaps other software packages too, but I use this so infrequently
that it's just easier for me to do it this way rather than spend time
learning how to use the functions in LDD.
