I live in Portland, OR and need to learn AutoCad from the ground up.
Had a little bit of drafting in High School.

Any recommendations ? Portland Community College, Clackamas C. College??

Any book recommendations on AutoCad or Drafting appreciated also.

I sure wish I could afford AutoCad. Then I would buy some books and
install it on
my PC.

Go to one of the school's you mention and purchase a student version. It is
relatively cheap and allows you to use everything as if you were using the
full commercial version EXCEPT that any plots you make will have "CREATED BY
EDUCATIONAL VERSION", or something similar, as will any drawings that you
may inadvertently give to others (including those that have the full
version). IOW, it is for YOUR use only and any attempt to use it for a
commercial purpose will make life miserable for you.

Good Luck
