Hi,

I'm having trouble applying Borco on my new drafting table. I taped
around the edges with double sided tape. does anyone have any suggestions
on how to remove all the wrinkles and bumps?

Thanks
Chris

Chris:

The first thing at this point is remove all the tape except along the
top edge. Let the Borco sit for a few days until it smoothes out. Then
tape about halfway along sides leaving the bottom edge free.

You could also do it the opposite way: tape the bottom edge and then
halfway up the sides.

To speed up the smoothing process you can blow WARM air from a hair
dryer across the surface. Personally, I would just wait a few days.

Thanks for the quick reply!,

Should I leave the bottom half open permanently? Or should I tape the
bottom later?

Leave it. In fact I would just put a strip about a foot long on the
other three sides. Borco stretches and moves a bit so by not taping it
too tight you an allow for that.

I agree with letting it sit. It smoothes out nicely on its own. I only use a
strip of tape across the top.

You don't have to wait a couple days at all. All it needs is moderate
heat. Take some large bath towels, throw them in the hottest
water you can stand handling as you need to wring them out a bit
to get rid of excess water. Spread the towels on top of the table.
The warm heat will smooth the wrinkles out in 10-20 minutes. If
real bad you can use a warm iron on the towels. I've done this
several times over the years.

I never tape as the weight of the material and the screws from the
parallel rule guides are sufficient to hold the material in place.

Since we're getting silly I'd just like to say

BORCO! BORCO! BORCO! BORCO! BORCO! BORCO! BORCO!
BORCO! BORCO! BORCO! BORCO! BORCO! BORCO! BORCO!
BORCO! BORCO! BORCO! BORCO! BORCO! BORCO! BORCO!

To the OP last time I had BORCO!, letting it lie for a few days with
periodic hairdryer sessions usually did it. I haven't had a BORCO! in over
four years
with the help of the lord and my sponsor, but I take it one day at a time.
