View Full Version : Is it possible to save *.dwg file as read only?
Greetings:
I am wondering if it is possible to save a *.DWG file as read-only, so
it makes harder to alter the contents of the drawing. Something like
Acrobat security options allowing people printing, marking it up but
not able to modify it in anyway without a pwd.
Thanks for your time and help.

Setting the Read Only attribute in Windows is about as good as doing nothing
at all. Even if the recipient doesn't know how to set it back to Read-Write,
all (s)he has to do is to load the file in AutoCAD, edit it and then SAVEAS
to a different filename or location. About the only way to "protect" a .dwg
file will be found here:

Thank you, Paul, for your help.
