Are there any variables (or combination of) that will suppress mesh display
on arcs in shademode? DISPSILH = 1 only seems to do this with the hide
command.

There are different versions of the shademode settings which will
affect if the mesh, or edges are highlighted or not. I think this is
what you are looking for.
