Do a Google Search for CAD CAM CNC
Why? BTW, It's "CAD/CAM" to those in the know.
Where's that crazed ranter that absolutely hates Google searches?
Note the second item in the list. A link to my website with thedefinition of CAD CAM and CNC.
How much did it cost to get a high ranking?
BTW, Only a real winger would try to provide foorp of their own
claims by citing their own confused claims.
I am not saying that CAD is not for design,
Why not?
in fact, the exactopposite. This has been the case since the 70's when I started workingin this field.
Picking fruits & nuts?
What I am saying is that over the years I find most "cad guys" doing2D work and being paid at lower rates due to the work.
Which "cad guys" might these be? Ones that have "worked"
with you?
3D Modeling is different from basic CAD.
You claimed that it was called "CAM" if it was 3D.
What's your problem?
It seems that since the 70's the field has changed,
What did you expect in about 30 years?
I know my role has certainly changed. For years when a customercalled and was looking to get CAD files created that usually did notinclude 3D Modeling.
How much do you need for a picture of the letter "D"?
In the past 10 years, in many systems, the solid iscreated first and the 2 CAD files (prints) are generated from the solid.
CLUE: We did all of this long, long ago using wireframe & surface
models, long before "solids" worked well or kernels were used.
This change in the way 2D and 3D models are created is behind mystatements. But, then again, some people may still be creating 2D first,
Like "sketches"?
although it really is quite outdated to do so.
You really, really need to learn some history of the field. I don't
think much of it got to rural Georgia long ago.
I'm also quite certain that you were not involved in any of it in
any way, except as a recent user of some entry-level systems.
Here's some history:

Check the decades:

Don't forget DUCT.
I define CAD on my website as Computer Aided Design, although methodshave changed dramatically since the 70's.
Again, YOU don't get to "define CAD".
http://microsystemsgeorgia.com/cnc.htm Here is a link to a page that was originally posted in 1995 on mywebsite by myself.
Where did you copy it all from?
I'd guess that you neglected to read the bit about
"CAM-(Computer Aided Manufacturing)The use of computers to assist in
manufacturing."
BTW, 2D works well for most CNC lathe work.
Note system generated Time Stamp at bottom oforiginal page.
From the above: "posted in 1995"
"This page was last updated 12/30/03 09:25:24 PM "
Anything like that can be easily forged.
