I think it could depend on different color spaces you use with the camera,
Windows and Photopaint.
I think Photopaint 7 could handle CMYKs. But that's not the problem as the
color space of the picture is certanly RGB.
But: Not every RGB is the same.
The camera might use S-RGB for example (I suppose that). The Windows software
uses this space too, so that may be the reason why it looks good here.
But Photopaint can handle different colorspaces. One that defines the internal
RGB-mode, one for the monitor and several more.
Depending on the task you want to do with the picture (print, internet,...)
you have also a CMYK profile.
So it could be that Photopaint shows how the picture would look when it's
printed.
You can define the profiles at the color management dialog. Change settings
there and see what's happening!
