I set some text (large bold headline) in Cyan. I draw a box around the text
a few millimeters away from the edges of the text and set the box with no
fill and no outline. I select both of them and convert them to bitmap at
600dpi cmyk with a transparent background. I double click for editing in
photopaint. There, I apply a special effect, in this case
effects>texture>plastic which gives the text a stunning 3D effect.
Now, the cmyk values in the new rendered image are varying percentages of
cyan in the lighter areas and varying percentages of cyan, magenta and
yellow in the darker shadow areas but no black. I want to re-set the shadow
areas that are made up of cyan, magenta and yellow to cyan and black only.
In other words, convert the magenta & yellow percentages to black so the
image consists only of cyan and black. This makes for a nice easy two colour
job on our press and spot colours always print with sharper more vibrant
colours than the cmyk colour set in any case. Although the job is set in
cyan we will actually be using a pantone green mix and black ink on the
printing press to achieve the desired affect. I am using Corel V10. Does
anybody who is familiar with working within the graphic arts industry know
the best way to achieve this.
