Hey,

I heard a story that when you buy a Microsoft product, the license lets you
use previous versions of the product as well. Is this true?

Reason: I want to buy a computer. The company ships with them with XP. I
want to use 2000.

Thanks,
Dave

As I understand it, that's only true if you buy a full Microsoft copy of
the software.

In this case, it's most likely you have an OEM version of XP. My
interpretation of the licence is that OEM versions cannot be up- or down-
graded.
