Hello,
I have a pretty good understand of the serverside liensing, but unsure about
application licensing.
Here is the scenario.
We have :
200 Windows 2000 Professional clients.
3 W2K Servers.
200 Windows 2000 Server CALS
10 of those workstations have a TS or Citrix client installed
So, each client automatically has a TS CAL whether or not it actually has a
TS (or Citrix client) installed.
Lets say I decide to install MS Office on my TS server. How many MS Office
licenses do I need?
Common sense would say 10, since although I have 200 TS CAL's, I have only
10 workstations with a TS client, however a MS Volume Licensing Brief states
that "If you have 100 desktops on the network, you will need 100 licenses
for Office"
I don't have a problem with it either way, I would just like to make sure I
am correctly licensed.
Thougthts?
Cheers

each user of Office on the terminal server would need to be licensed
separately for Office. So if only 10 people actually use Office on the
server, you only need 10 licenses. You don't require 200 licenses merely
because you have 200 desktop PCs on the network. But if all 200 desktops
will be accessing Office through Terminal Server, you would need 200
Office licenses.
