Office 97 came with my computer when I bought it new. An OEM version.
I have now upgraded to a new motherboard HD etc.
Trying to install Office 97 from the original disk I need to quote a
product number. I haven't got one and the original dealer is no more!
What do I do?

Sounds like the original dealer sold you a pirated copy. You should
never purchase a computer with preinstalled apps or OS without getting
the physical installation disks. 99% of the time, the dealer has a
single copy that they install on all machines, in effect pirating the
software (and probably charging you extra for it).
