View Full Version : office 97 licencing

Good day,
I have a few questions about office 97 licencing!
As long as a person is holding a valid office 97 licence - does the
media matter if it is copied?
I have copied media but no licence and I am thinking of buying a
licence online for a reasonable price.
I guess my bottom line question is. If somebody else had installed
Office using this licence and they are not in possession of the
licence, does the product belong to the current or previous licence
holder. If I pay out some money for a licence I wish to know that the
product belongs to me.
Thank you in advance.

I'm not sure exactly what you're asking here (when you say "if somebody
else had installed this software using this license," I don't know what
license you're referring to, since you say you don't have it).
However, at minimum you should be in possession of a valid license
document (lots of folks just throw these cards away), and the original
media. You probably won't be able to buy just a license. Whoever sells
it to you (e.g., if you found one on eBay; I think I have one laying
around) should also ship the original media with it to prove that
they're not just sending you a good facsimile of the license document,
which would be easy to forge.
If you can't do that, why don't you just download openoffice.org? It's
probably as good as Office 97, with no licensing hassles.
