A week ago I attempted to do the same task, and Bank One gave me a .qfx file. Quicken says it cannot open the file. I finally got through to some one at the bank in tech suport. She couldn't answer my question, and went to get help. She returned to tell me that Quicken 2000 would not work with that file extension and I had to get an upgraded version of Quicken. Can this be true??? Yes. This happened to me with BofA a couple of years ago; they gave me a free Q2001. and if so, why can't they use both the .qfx and .qif file extensions? Considering your next statement, I do not understand this question. There is also an option to download a .qif file, but when I did that the file had a qif.aspx extension that quicken couldn't down load, either? I am not sure how you wound up with the ".aspx" extension, but if the file actually contains valid QIF formatted data, you can just change the extension to ".qfx" and "import" it. (Quicken does not "download" QIF files (that is a separate process generally controlled by your financial institution); but it does "import" them). You can see for yourself if the downloaded file contains QIF data; you can open it in any word processor and view the contents. Here is a sample of two transactions from a QIF file; if your data resembles this, it is probably a valid QIF file. So do I have to buy a new Quicken? Not necessarily; but if you want to make your life easier (web-connect is easier than QIF, and direct downloads are much easier than web-connect) - and possibly if you want to keep the ability to download at all - you might want to at least consider upgrading. You can get newer versions of Quicken very inexpensively at eBay: I just bought Q2002 deluxe for Windows US on eBay for $17 including shipping.

Thanks for your response. I have been fiddling all weekend with this
problem. After downloading the transactions again and again, and
Quicken not recognizing the qif.aspx file extension, I just deleted
the .aspx part and VOILA! the transactions appeared in my Quicken
credit card register. You said to do this, and it worked, (but not the
first time I tried). Then, I found a BankOne credit card account with
transactions in it from the very first time I tried to do this on June
13. Where did it come from?? It said it was enabled for on-line
access.
Many mysteries buried within my Quicken. I just use it to keep track
of expenses for tax time. I guess I should try some of the other
features.
Thanks again,
Jane
