View Full Version : Error Recovery "Your last online session was not completed."
"Your last online session was not completed". I have had to deal with this
error message before from time to time . Usually, I can reconnect to a
website and finish downloading data and it will go away. But now I get this
message and no matter what I do I can't get rid of it. I'm not even exactly
sure which website is causing the problem. Ideally, I should be able to
just cancel the message and continue. But of course Intuit can't give you
that kind of control. The quicken website says your quicken program goes
into an 'error recovery' mode until the online session is completed. This
is nuts! All their knowledge base can tell you to do is contact the
financial website causing the problem. This is not a banks problem, this is
a quicken problem.
If anybody knows of a way to disable or delete the log, or file, or registry
setting or whatever is causing this message I would appreciate a response.
Thank you.

response. Thank you. I have had this problem from time to time with vanguard. Something
you can try is the following (works in q2003): Go to online center. Pick your financial institution as financial institution. Then while holding CTRL F3 click on contact in upper left corner. Then hit Update/Send. Hope this works!
Bob, thanks for the response. I am using Quicken2001. When I hold CTRL F3
and click on Contact Info (upper left corner) I get a 'FI Action Required'
window. In it, all my Financial institutions are listed along with a
current status display, Branding and Profile. When I select an institution
from the list the status either shows 'up to date' or 'needs updating' for
each of these displays. Does this sound familiar to you? Do you know what
branding and profile mean?
When I hold CTRL F3 and click on Update/Send, I get a window that says
'Choose the Testing Function that you want to use', and it gives me 2
buttons labled 'Create QEL LOG' and 'Set Transaction ID'. Do either of
these sound familiar?
What exactly happens when you do what you described above? Thanks again.

On the right hand side of that dialog box is a button labelled
"Refresh"; select the fi in question and click Refresh. I believe
that the next time you download for that fi, their info will be
"refreshed".

I've downloaded for every FI in the list, but everytime I go to close quicken I get the error message. 'Your last online session was not completed. Do you want to try again before exiting?'
What version of Quicken? Do you have a "Download Summary"? (In
Q2001, Q2002; you could place that on your My Finances screen by
Customizing). If you look at the Download Summary, does it tell you
which fi's download did not complete; maybe even some additional info
if you click on the "link" for that fi? If you find such a thing and
the details are not self explanatory, or if doing what they suggest
does not solve the problem; try calling the fi.
I have gotten this message before and when the problem was at the fi,
sometimes I just had to wait until they straightened out things at
their end.
On another occasion, I had to disable my account for online access and
re-enable it again. I suspect that you can try that without doing any
damage. Of course, there is also a situation where the error prevents
you from disabling online access, in which case I think you're nearly
back to square one; calling the fi, and/or waiting.
