How does everyone (but me) know that Intuit has discontinued on-line
downloading of portfolio quotes? Where was this made known? If I upgrade
to 2003 will I be able to get online quotes? Should I switch to Money?
Help, please?

Then why am I unable to get online quotes?

I'm running Q2000 and still getting online quotes.

I have Q2002 Deluxe and haven't able to get quotes for 2 days - on either of
2 computers. I get various error messages, the most popular being "The
server is not responding properly, please try again later." sheesh. I don't
think it's a version or installation issue - and I know in my case it's not
a configuration issue, unless something's been changed at the Quicken end.
It must be a Quicken server problem, but down for 2 days with no
notification sucks - athough that's nothing new with Quicken's (lack of)
Tech Support and I'll be damned if I'm going to pay $1.95/min to talk to
them - or $14.95 for Chat support.

Anybody figure out what's going on, yet?

I have no earthly idea. I get them just fine.

This situation is somewhat common, and while annoying, it has always
(as best I can recall) been corrected in time.

And as far as the historical prices are concerned, they come from a
different company than the current quotes; which actually gives you a
benefit, that while the current quotes are unavailable, you can stay
nearly up-to-date by getting yesterday's prices via historical quotes.

I called Intuit about this (they didn't charge me, so they must know they
have a problem) and they suggested that I go to
http://www.intuit.com/support/quicken/2001/win/6147.html
and follow those directions. In the process, I found that 2 of my 4
brokerage accounts were corrupted. It helped, but when I imported the old
(supposedly corrupt) files into Microsoft Money (which I am using on their
30 day free trial) it had no problem updating everything. I like the fact
that I can tell Money to update on a schedule (say every 15 minutes). They
are a little behind Intuit's curve on refinements, and I have found a couple
of bugs, but my guess is they will leave Quicken in the dust in a short
time.

These two fail for me every single time. Any ideas why? - Bob
