Are people using formal Version Control systems for embeddedapplications? There is nothing special about version control for embedded applications. I have been using GNU RCS for years and more recently TortoiseCVS. If your development platform is Win32 based it is pretty sweet. http://www.tortoisecvs.org/

Or for Win32 there's WinCVS + cvsnt
