Hi,

For my :local: cvs use, i look for a jscript/vbscript script doing the same
thing as rcs2log perl script. Has someone already seen that?

I haven't. But I use rcs2log with :local:; it works fine.

What is wrong with rcs2log?

Ok. So do I. what is the problem?

Hmm, perhaps you are unaware that you can run Perl on Windows. I use
the Perl in the Cygwin distribution, which also has a lot other tools
I use. http://cygwin.com. There are also other Perl implementations
for Windows.

Hi,

Thanks for the answer. I installed perl for win32 and it works fine (tried
some scripts). But I believe rcs2log is not a perl script (no shebang at the
fist line, perl does not want to proceeed it), it looks like a shell script
for unix. You say you use Cygwin, this is why rcs2log works, but I think it
is not perl, isn't it?

The rcs2log I have here (came with cvs 1.11.1) *does* have a shebang - it's
a huge Bourne shell script (with embedded awk code). Hopefully it doesn't
depend on any bash extensions.

Install bash or maybe just ash from Cygwin, and you should be fine.
Or install cvs2cl and see if that one fills your needs -- it's written in perl.

Exact, I meaned a perl shebang

That's what I did just before reading your post ! GREAT, just what I want,
and works perfect on windows after a small change in the first 3 lines.

Now is it possible to put (rcs2log/cvs2cl) in CVSROOT/loginfo to automate
the ChangeLog process ?

Thanks

It is certainly possible, but I think that's a bad idea. The point of
cvs2cl is to run it once just before a release, to capture all the
changes in the entire repository since the last release. if you run it
for every checkin, you are wasting a _lot_ of time!
