My company is considering a move from CVS->Perforce, and I was
wondering how well perforce handles what CVS calls "Vendor Branches".
It is important we retain our ability to import updates to third party
code.

It's very easy to create branches in Perforce. In regards to creating
a vendor branch, here is an article from the Perforce web site:
