I'm having trouble installing NT 4.0 (build 1381) from the CD to a Shuttle
AK32 motherboard with a Western Digital HDD. It's the only HDD and is a
100Gig with an Ultra-ATA controller onboard the mobo. The installer says it
(only) sees the mass storage device of the IDE CD-ROM during initial
installation, and then does see the HDD later in the installation. I can
only get as far as trying to format the HDD (partitioning works fine) at
which point I get an error message that installation cannot continue because
the HDD is too large. I've tried repartitioning to smaller sizes with the
same result, eventually getting an error message that says the partition is
too small. The access options for this HDD in the bios are CHA, LBA, LARGE
and AUTO, none of which seems to make any difference. I've tried formatting
with NTFS and FAT but neither will get past the Drive Too Large error
message. Any ideas?
