View Full Version : Quicken 2003 - Online Bill Pay Question

I use Quicken 2003 with the Online Bill Pay. However, the only
functionality that I use is to pay my bills on-line. I enter my bills
into Quicken and then click the "Update" Icon which sends the
transactions to the Wachovia Website.
My problem - - - After the Update Process has been completed, it's
trying to pull an on-line balance. I don't have any interest in this
information. Also, when I reconcile, a message pops up indicating
that it wants to pull info from the internet. This is overkill for my
needs.
My question - - - Is there anyway to turn this feature off? I simply
want to transmit my bills to the Wachovia website. I'm not interested
in anything else.

Robert,
I am not sure I understand.... You want to pay bills with Quicken via
Wachovia, but you don't want your balance and transaction information within
Quicken? If that is the case, why not use Wachovia's bill pay without the
middleman (i.e., Quicken)? Or did I misunderstand the question?

Great question. And, I guess I wasn't clear when I posted the message.
I really like the Quicken Interface. In other words, I like entering the
bills in Quicken (so I can assign categories etc) and then upload the
transactions to Wachovia. However, I *don't* want to pull any data from the
Wachovia site into Quicken. Quicken wants to always "update itself" with
new balance information everytime my transactions are transmitted.
Hope this helps better explain my problem.

Robert,
Thanks for the clarification. I, too, use Quicken and Wachovia, so I'll try
my best to help.
Have you tried to Update/Send straight from your Quicken (Wachovia)
register? A dialog box will come up, and I think you un-check the Update
Register boxes, but leave the Send boxes. One thing to note, I would
imagine your Quicken Register keeps an increasing negative balance.....

"Online Account Access" should be Available, Not Enabled
"Online Payment through Wachovia" should be Enabled

the problem. Thanks for responding so quickly. "Steve B" <netuser49@hotmail.com> wrote in message news:4wU%a.27757$vo2.16151@newsread1.news.atl.earthlink.net... I guess I'm not clear where these (2) options are that you're referring to.
Also - - - When my On-Line update is complete, it says "On-Line Balance is
$xxx.xxx as of 1/15/03". Why does it keep saying this? Isn't there a way
to get rid of it? As I stated earlier, I don't want Quicken ever pulling
any data from the Wachovia website. I just want to upload to it.
Thanks.

Just turn off Transaction Download in the checking account Overview tab.
Edit account details and deactivate Transaction Download.
I guess you are saying you prefer to solely input your own transactions and
reconcile with your paper statement, right? Just want to clarify because in
a previous posting you said you "do update right from the Register."
