Archiving and Purging

I have data in my main data file going back to 1997. I would like to
archive years 1997, 1998, & 1999 to separate files and have my main
data file only contain data from 2000 on. Is this possible?

AFAICT, my choices are only archiving (which keeps the data in the
main file) or year ending (which starts a new file).

Yes, IIRC you can archive to about any date you want to and you can do your procedure
in July if you want to.

"which starts a new file" as of any date you choose. (But it
will contain *all* unreconciled transactions and *all*
investment transactions).
