If you have Windows 95/98/ME, you may be experiencing the "lost
window" problem (which is not a Quicken problem).

2. - Occasional lockups expecially from the portfolio page.
Talked to Intuit ($17.20), told to validate and super-validate but
still no improvement.

Check your investment account registers for bad data (validate
does not seem find it all). Especially bad dates - look near
the top of the register.

Also check price histories, for invalid data - the simplest way
to find if this might be the problem is to rename QDATA.QPH,
then download historical prices for your securities, then try to
reproduce the problem with the portfolio. If you still
experience the lockups, just rename QPH back to its original
name. And if you find the new price history "fixes" things,
just remember that downloading price history will not recover
every price and especially not bond prices.
During tech support conversation was encouraged to sign up for extended service package. Was told that my on-line banking
was going to expire at end of my yearly licence. Told them I was
fed up with Intuit marketing and would likely change to Money.

Of course if you are leaving for Money, you'll have no need for
the above.

Yes I have W98SE. Never have had the problem you mention with other
programs. Have been using Quuicken since early DOS versions and never seen
this . Only with XG. Go figure. http://makeashorterlink.com/?Q30421085 2. - Occasional lockups expecially from the portfolio page. What constitutes "bad" data. Investment registers don't go back too far
(2.5 years) since all earlier data was lost when converted from Q99 to Q01.
Those dates look OK. Also check price histories, for invalid data - the simplest way to find if this might be the problem is to rename QDATA.QPH, then download historical prices for your securities, then try to reproduce the problem with the portfolio. Again what constitutes invalid data. All my investments are mutual funds.
I don't think you can download mutual fund history for more than a week
since when I return from extended trips my updates always have gaps.

Thanks again. During tech support conversation was encouraged to sign up for extended service package. Was told that my on-line banking was going to expire at end of my yearly licence.
