Yes, Quicken allows us to turn off these warnings, but the problem is that
it then *ignores* that the warning has been turned off. I've reported this
bug on Intuit's web site. I sure hope they listen, because this is
annoying. And I don't believe the beta testers didn't notice this bug.

Regards,

Margaret

Couple of beta testers I spoke with admitted they did not do a backup.

How about a set routine for beta testers.....

It's not brain surgery......

I didn't doubt; I was only pointing out that there *might* be a
difference between the question with the "yes" or "no" choices
and the configuration option. If the op had not already
"configured" to avoid the question (he did not say), then doing
so might have produced a different result. But it sounds like
you have covered all the bases; glad you let Intuit know. This
does seem to be a common problem with them.

It is not up to the beta testers to test every single function - that is
the responsibility of Intuit's QA department (do they have one??). And
the programmers. Every use case in the product should be tested by them,
and then if they pass sent to the beta testers for "real world use"
testing. Strange none of them backed up, but ultimately this "easy" catch
makes Intuit look really bad. They must not test at all, just throw it
over the wall to the beta testers, which is a very irresponsible practice
from a QA perspective.

I was a beta tester a few years ago, probably for Quicken 1998 or 1999 IIRC.
*I* backed up then, because I always back up. :-) But I've never applied
to be a beta tester since, because Intuit ignored every one of my bug
reports. That is, when the software was released, it still had every single
bug I reported. I decided I didn't need to waste my time or effort.

Regards,

Margaret

You've missed the whole point of beta testing..

it lets the full range of 'user practices' to be tested..
things the designers didn't think of, because they are the designers.
including sloth.
