Hi to everybody...
Last year I studied Oracle9 for an university exam and now I'd like to learn
something more about Oracle10r.
So I downloaded Oracle database 10g rel. 1 from oracle.com (Win32 version;
about 600Mb).
But after the installation I haven't found an important tool: how can I
create a new database schema, add tables, views, trigger ad load data????
In Start Menu I've this item:
- Application Development
- (some dlls)
- Configuration and Migration Tools
- Administration assitant for windows
- Database configuration assistant (I've created a new database with
this stuff)
- Database upgrade assistant
- Locale builder
- Microsoft ODBC admin
- Net configuration assistant
- Net management
- Integrated Management Tools
- Oracle directory manager
- Wallet manager
- Oracle Installation Products
- Universal installer

I need to download something more from oracle.com?
Anyone wanna help me?
thank you so much
Luca

Everything you want to do can be done with SQL*Plus.

How much studying with 9i did you do if you are asking this question
about 10g? Was all of that studying hands-off?

I studied 9i for 6 months for a course about oracle, plsql, trigger and
other about oracle architettures (2 months of them with lab practice too),
and other 6 months for a course about datawarehouse, olap, data mining,...
But there is an important difference: at university, oracle and other tools
was already installed; at home I need to install all tools by myself and I
don't know which tools are required.

anyway, thank you so much for your answer

SQL*Plus from the command line, I'd say. If not - state your needs.

That would be Data WareHouse Builder, Discoverer, and how knows what?
Again - you have SQL*Plus - all queries can be built using your
keyboard, brains and SQL*Plus.

Other than that, state your needs: *what* tools do you want?

Hi to everybody...

Why do you ask the question several times? Do you not look first? (If
you did, you would probably realize that the same people answer in
comp.databases.oracle and the cdo.server, cdo.tools and cdo.misc and your
would know there is no need to ask twice.)
I need to download something more from oracle.com? Anyone wanna help me?

Help, only if you are willing to pay us. Since this is free and done by
volunteers, we are usually willing to point you in the right direction.

As I answered in cdo.misc - if you really want to learn Oracle properly,
get familiar with the command line. I also gave you additional ideas in
the other reply.

It generally takes everal years to get properly familiar with all of
Oracle's tools - take them one at a time. But you will find that many are
just fancy wrappers around SQLPlus. Knowing SQLPlus realy helps.

Everthing you need, for now, can be done through SQL*Plus.
