Advice requested on configuring HP Laserjet IIIp
(discarded by the office, installed here when the
Brother HL 1050 blew its fuser unit today . . . )
This unit prints DOS OK only from manual feed
-- but prints Windows OK from the A4 paper tray.
When paper is stacked in manual feed, the unit
prints DOS from this feed and prints Windows
from the tray. So I have to keep the front open
and stacked with paper all the time. This cannot
be normal.

Hi Don,
Something you might consider if the Brother printer has a bad fuser is
that there is a Brother international recall on the fuser for your
HL-1050 where it is a fire hazard so Brother has offered to replace
the fuser at no charge. You might try the website
http://www.brother.com/usa/recalls.html for leads to the recall or
for Canada www.newswire.ca/en/releases/
archive/November2002/07/c9519.html for info.
Thank you. Hope it is helpful.
