View Full Version : Portfolio question
Last year I had a change in a mutual fund holding that included a name and
symbol change. I used Shares Out to move old shares to the new account.
Left the old mutual fund account with 0 shares and the new with the correct
total of shares. When I call up a portfolio report of holding it shows the
old mutual fund with zero value but it also shows the original cost. The
new mutual fund shows shares/value/cost correctly.
Does anyone know how I get rid of the cost on the original mutual fund
holding???
Thanks.

The question is a bit confusing. When you say "move old shares to the
new account" I assume you mean change the name of the security, not
set up an entirely new account? And "old/new mutual fund" is the same
fund, with a different name?
I suspect you don't wanna go thru shares out/in to effect this change.
Q2004 has a "corporate name change" transaction that would do the
trick, not sure about earlier versions. And you can always go into
the securities list to amend the symbol.
