"hp 845c install" help please

having big problems after a format & fresh reinstall of win 98se
getting this printer to install....

win98 recognises the printer as soon as it is plugged in

i cancelled the add new hardware wizard and proceeded to install from
the original HP cd......it couldnt see the printer and aborted the
install

then i tried to install using the add new hardware wizard and it
aborted after prompting to browse for the file hpzuci02.dll which does
not exist on either the cd or the entire hard disk

i found hpzuci02.dl_ in windows folder and tried renaming it to
hpzuci02.dll....failed again

i then restored the registry to a back up done prior to install

tried reinstall from
a. the hp cd
b. using newest available drivers from HP
c. add new hardware wizard
failure as above in all cases

i am stumped by this as the printer predictably was woring fine prior
to format and reinstall...thanks for any tips

Same thing happened to my brother when he installed this printer on his
computer.
