View Full Version : Power "JACK" for Pavilion zt1150 replacement?

I just inherited a used laptop as specified in the subject. The
previous owner (my college daughter) claims that it authomatically
shuts itself down.
What I experience is that when perfectly still and the A/C power
plugged in, it will run virtually continuously. However, if I wiggle
the power "plug" it will instantly shut off. I've used a needle to
"expand" the spring contacts on both the plug and the socket without
any improvement. I do notice that when I wiggle the plug the socket
in the laptop also moves.
Also, this unit will NOT power on when the battery is installed. And,
if running on A/C and then the battery is inserted, it instantly shuts
off.
Any ideas as to how one would go about further diagnosing thing? And,
a source of a replacement part?
Thanks,
"poor" old laptop inheritor.
