I just bought Western digital WD2500JD ATA hard drive for my HP pavilion
a475c. It seems that there isn't any serial ATA connector on the
motherboard. I guess I would need your confirmation on this and if this is
right, what is your comments on buying an adaper? Thanks.

Yes, then I have two connectors and all I need is a cable. Any ATA will
work? Thanks.

Check your power supply unit in your HP Pavilion before you think
about doing this. The clowns at HP are too embarassed to tell
everybody that their computers have such flimsy and underpowered PSU's
which are either 100 watt or 145 watt and are not made to be used with
a second hard drive or high powered video card. Having more than 1
hard drive running will cause the system to shut down and not turn
back on.

Too true. HP seems to have taken the "Packard" part of the Packard-Bell name to
heart, building systems with cheap parts. By contrast, comparable small chassis
IBM desktops and mini-towers have a more comfortable 185w... Ben Myers

Before making too many generalizations, you should look at more of the
recent systems. My low end a305w comes with a 250 watt power supply.
While it is a good idea to make sure your power supply can handle an
additional device, implying that all you will find is a 100-145 watt supply
is incorrect.

250 watt is still not strong enough. You need 350 up to 450 watts now
to run hardware that sucks alot of energy.
One other thing, will you post the reply on the bottom please? Top
posting is bad. It screws up the message.
