View Full Version : Can't email an invoice without Intuit involved?

I'm using QB 2002 Pro, Windows XP. I just want to email the invoices
I created. I keep being asked for a password for a Intuit user
account.
Also, what about PDF? Can I save it as a PDF? Print to PDF?
I'll settle for emailing to myself on the Macintosh and take it from
there.

Thanks in advance,
Brian

If you set up a PDF writer such as Adobe or one of the others out there
you can email invoices one by one with your own email service. The
nice thing about the Intuit service is you can batch send them.

You can set up the Intuit user account from 2002 and use their servers.
This is one of the last free services they offer so I take advantage of it.

In the Canadian edition, the email dialog offers a "Save As" button which allows you to save the invoice as a PDF anywhere and with any name, so you can easily email it anywhere anytime. Apparently other editions don't have this feature.

If you can use "more" PDF, consider 1-Step RoboPDF at http://www.ehelp.com/
The free-for-personal-use version stamps a prominent logo and notice across the bottom half-inch of the page, but the full version is reasonably priced. From what I've seen so far, this program appears able to turn anything printable into a PDF and can also do things such as combine multiple PDF documents into a single file or separate multiple-page documents into separate files.

Thanks so much for all the help from everyone. I was unaware that the
email service was free. I've sent invoices and cc'd to myself and am
waiting to receive my copy for confirmation.
Thanks again,
Brian

Try going to http://www.hotfiles.com and entering into their search
box: print to PDF
There are several shareware programs listed here that will convert any
document to PDF format (which most computers have the free Adobe
Acrobat reader or they can readily download it at Adobe.com). IRS and
other large sites use this format and all computers can read these
files.
Another poster found DocuCom a good program to convert QB files into
PDF format so that it can be sent as an attachment and opened with the
free Adobe Acrobat reader.
Basically what these programs do is install a "printer driver" into
your computer. When you tell QB's to print form, and your printer
screen comes up, you change the name of your printer to the PDF (in
the case of Adobe)printer driver and tell it to print. It will print
to a new file with a .PDF extension. You name this new file and store
it somewhere you can find it. Then, you use your email program to
compose a new email and you click the Insert/File function and select
this new .PDF file and it will attach it to your email when you send
it. The recipient will get your email with the little paper clip
symbol indicating it's an attached file. They will click on the
attached file (usually found in the lower left margin or the email
itself) and the free Adobe Reader program that comes with most
computers will open it and it will be exactly like the original form
and will not be able to be edited by the recipient. They can save it
or print it out from there. The great thing about all this is that you
can email anything that you can print from within your computer -
anything. Not just invoices and PO's but anything you can create and
print in any program you can email with this PDF function.

OK but statements print as a group. How do I split the one large PDF file
that has multiple pages?

You would have to print statements and invoices individually if you don't care to use the Intuit email service. :-(
