Pavilion 6736...need some help!!

Well my son seems to have gone in and deleted several important Windows ME
system files and I couldn't get the computer to do anything at all. And of
course my first system recovery CD has gotten scratched so bad that I can't
get any CDROM drive to read it at all... and to top it all off HP tells me
that they no longer offer a system recovery disk for my computer.

So I said screw it and wiped the system, installed 98SE and all the latest
Microsoft updates and for the most part everything went ok... except for the
graphics driver. The system only recognizes the onboard graphics driver as
a standard display adapter at 16 colors 640x480. How in the world would I
go about finding drivers for onboard graphics? I am assuming that they're
Intel, but other than that I don't have a clue.

The Pavilion 6736 uses the Intel 810L motherboard chipset for I/O and graphics.
Go to www.intel.com , look for downloads for desktop motherboards, go to the
archive for obsolete boards (Intel declared all Pentium 3 boards obsolete) and
download the Windows 98SE graphics drivers for ANY of the Intel 810
motherboards. While you're at it, download the Intel INF file for the 810 (and
other) chipset. Install the INF file first. Then install the 810 graphics
driver. Everything should run right... Ben Myers
