I have a laserjet 4000 that is having problems printing bullets and
other fonts. I have tried to change the pcl font source to soft but it
won't let me. Instead the pcl font source is internal. when I go into
the printing menu, then pcl font source, but when I hit the value or
select button nothing happens. According to the manual my options are
internal, soft, and dimm slot 1, 2, or 3. The printer is a laserjet
4000n, product number c4120a, with 4mb of memory.

The printer may have trouble printing lots of different fonts because it does
not have enough internal memory, and printer memory overruns occur. Add memory
and see what happens. I have set up numerous older LaserJet 5 and 5M printers
with the max memory possible (64MB and 48MB respectively), and have not had any
real issues printing anything... Ben Myers
