View Full Version : HP 7130 on Windows XP SP2 won't "scan to" Word 2003

Hi:

I have a customer with one of those custom built PCs. It has an Intel
motherboard, 1gb ram and 80gb hard drive and is running Windows XP
Professional..fully updated with SP2. For reasons completely unrelated
to the HP 7130 All-in-one printer, it became necessary to reformat the
drive and reinstall the operating system and all associated software.

Before the reinstall, the customer was able to select Microsoft Word
from the "scan to" settings. After the reinstall, the customer is only
presented with three choices to scan to: Readris, HP Imageviewer,
Wordpad.

I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the HP drivers. I've tried
uinstalling and reinstalling Microsoft Office. I've tried downloading
the software directly from HP and using the software from the CD. I've
scanned HP's knowledegebase for this isssue. I've tried these same
actions in different order, and reboot cycles. No matter what I do, I
can't get the the "scan to" settings to recognize Microsoft Word 2003
and make it a selectable choice from the list.

So...I blame the registry. This pc has other unrelated and
unscientific glitches with no apparant root cause. In the hopes that
someone in HP is reading this, can you help me make this entry manually
in the registry? Or better yet, tell me there's an easier fix that's
been identified and tested?

Thanks...
