Ha anyone successfully created a second partition on an HP dv1000 series
laptop? I have the dv1049cl (costco version), and tried several times to add
a second partition to the HD, using partition magic 8, as well as from a
totally fresh install of winXP, (home and pro). In every case, the second
partition showed up, normally, HOWEVER, as soon as I moved one file to the
new partition, XP lost the DVD drive. I could boot from the DVD, and
quickplay mode would play movies and music CDs, but Win XP said there was no
DVD.

I could only get the DVD back in Windows by doing a fresh install from the
recovery CD set.

I've scoured google and the closest I found was an issue with some DVD drives
and Nero, but I've never had Nero.

Any Ideas would be appreciated,

Thanks
