Hi,
We have an HP 7978 reel to reel tape that the PS comes on and the
fans run but no lights on the front panel - is there an
internal fuse or something simple that would do this?
thanks,
hurf

If this is the vertical-mounted tape drive then...

Internal fuse? yes, there are several
Something? sure
Simple? probably not

The lights on the control panel were driven by the machine's microprocessor
and if those are the ones you're talking about then there's probably
something
wrong besides a fuse. Fuses don't blow for no reason.

As I remember, the fuses were on the horizontal power/motor controller board
in the bottom of the machine.

If this was a horizontally loaded tape drive then ...
all above applies except the location of the fuses.

In any event, I think parts will be difficult to locate unless you can find
anything
on ebay. I think the tape is obsolete.

Good luck.
