View Full Version : Quiet audio

I have just upgraded a HP PC with a new MSI KM2M Combo (MS-6738) M. Board
that has integrated Realtek AC97 audio (ver 5.10.0.4050 - 16/10/02).
The audio is extremely quiet using the original HP monitor speakers (fixed
volume).
I have tried turning all of the mixer volume levels to max but all audio is
just audible!
I have tried both wav & CD sources.
Could this be a driver issue or something to do with the speakers?
Cheers

Perhaps they're unamplified speakers (as corroborated by your comment
about them being "fixed volume"), and your new board is intended for
use with amplified speakers.
Not all sound cards have on-board amplification -- in fact, most of the
newer ones I've seen don't.
