Today I just replaced the surge protector for my computer with a new
one that has more outlets. After powering down the sytem, I unplugged
all the wires from the old surge protector and plug them all into the
new one. Then I powered up the computer again. When I did, this
message came up on the monitor: "video cable connected?"

All of the LED lights to my CPU and peripherals (2 printers, speakers,
ext. HD) are on and I assume are working. The monitor's LED is on
also. It's video cable never was unplugged during this operation. But
I disconnected it then plugged the monitor into another computer and
it is working on that computer but is still showing the error msg on
the first computer. I've rebooted the computer a few times also but
nothing improved.

What could be wrong? How do I fix this?

Try reseating the cable and video card. Sounds like the video cable
got moved around a little when you were plugging and unplugging
connections.

OK. I'll give it a shot. Thanks!
