View Full Version : On-Line Payment - Quicken 2000 Deluxe

I have been using Quicken 2000 Deluxe for a few years.
I am not doing anything complex, just managing a few checking accounts.
For the last two years I have been downloading account information
from my bank (Bank one). No problem here, all works as advertised.

For the last few months I have been paying bills on-line,
but through the banks website. I then have been updating the quicken
register.
I then realize that the Quicken 2k documentation says I can do on-line bill
pay via Quicken 2000.

That is where the rub comes in. I have "Online Account Access" enabled.
but I am only given the choice of "Intuit Online Payment". I don't see
anywhere that I am given the opportunity to enable Online payment via my
bank.

I have all the updates for Quicken 2000 Deluxe installed.

My neighbor is successfully doing online payment with Bank One, using
Quicken, but with a newer Quicken, 2002.

Please tell me what I have missed, Does Quicken 2000 Deluxe really support
online bill pay, and if so, where have I made my mistake in configuration.

Thanks, Kim

Kim,
you did not say how you download your BankOne acct. info in to Quicken
? direct-connect, web-connect or QIF input. If it?s direct-connect
(meaning that you update your bank info from within Quicken using
?Update? and just typing your BankOne pin), then paying/schedule bills
is easy ? just enter them into the register with ?SEND? instead of a
check number: Quicken will prompt you if the date of your scheduled
payment is too soon. Also, if you enter a new payee information, the
Quicken will take you to the payee setup screen. Next time you would
direct-connect (?Update?) with the BankOne, the scheduled payment will
be uploaded to your Bank?s BillPay. Quicken then will not let you edit
this entry in the register until it is clear (?c?). You would need to
go to BankOne?s web site - into BillPay ? to edit/adjust/revise your
scheduled payment. That?s pretty much how I do it in Quicken 2002 DX,
and I hope it would work similarly for you in Quicken 2000.
If you?re using any other option to download the BankOne info (QIF or
web-connect), you probably wouldn?t be able to pay your bills within
Quicken, because those are one-directional (download only, no upload)
communications with the bank. If I am wrong about that, then somebody
will correct me. Anyway, good luck. Hope I answered your question.

If I recall correctly QW2002 introduced something that required all bill pay
financial institutions to only support QW2002 and above.

Since you have QW2000 this might be why you are having problems.

Camel_Toe & gk

Thank you so much for your responses. Alas, I believe Camel_Toe is correct
about Q2k no longer supporting bill pay.

I am not given the option of doing Bill Pay with "update" (direct connect)
with Quicken2k.
I don't even get an option to set up payees and there is no payment tab
available.

I don't need to pay for q2004, maybe I can get Quicken 2002 on the web for
cheap :>)

Thanks again,

Kim

Kim,
How do your online paid bills are shown in Quicken after direct
connect update with BankOne? Do they show ?sent? with the lightning
arrow in your register?
