What is the additional power connection, what I will call the SATA power
plug, for in addition to the standard power connection on a SATA hard drive?

TIA,
Dan

The standard molex connector is not designed for hot-pluging.
Doing this could kill the drive. The SATA-power connector can
savely be plugged in and removed while power is on (you may
only loose data, but cannot fry the electronics...)

I will use the SATA-power connector since my power supply has them.

Thanks,
Dan

Its either or. They both serve the same function. Eventually the SATA
power plug will be the only one used on the SATA drives, its just that since
all the powersupplies have the standard 4-pin that manufacturers are putting
that one on. Never connect both, as teh SATA hard drive manuals will tell
you.

My drives didn't come with manuals, just the drive.
