View Full Version : What Motherboard is in the HP Pavilion system?

My mum is thinking of buying an HP Pavilion (tower only) model T560A.
I was trying to find out what motherboard is installed. The salesmen
were evasive about it and gave generic (and conflicting) answers like,
"It's an Intel 865 Chipset motherboard", or "It's an HP motherboard".

I wouldn't accept either of those dodgy responses, and tried to find
out the manufacturer (eg; ASUS, Gigabyte...) and specific model
number. Eventually, a sales manager phoned me back and left a
message... "The motherboard is specifically customised for HP, so we
can't tell you."

Does this sound like salesman BS? Does anybody know if the HP
Pavilion mobo is based on an existing model? This computer is being
sold in Australia (thus the model number may not be the same as other
HPs elsewhere in the world), but it's probably assembled somewhere in
Asia.

HP's support site says it is a P4SD-LA, which is an ASUS OEM board.
