I don't think the tube has gone on 17" vision master, (I started
the pc up as usual and left it to boot, when I came back - nothing.
The tube inside does not look burned ( or broken), and anyway would
it show if the tube blew? Do these have a board pcb that goes?

The classical failure mode is not an imploding tube. They are
very sturdy, since an implosion could harm or kill.
Typical falure modes are:
- Transformer for high-voltage leaky: Replace it
- Heating in the tube gone: Replace tube
And of copurse various other things can break. Almost none of
these can be detected with visual inspecyion only. The broken
heating might be if you a) know what it looked like before
b) are willing to risk running the monitor with open case.
Don't do this unless you know what you are doing! There might
be high voltage on various places!
