Does anyone have experience with Bluetooth keyboards and mice? I've hooked
up the PC to the TV and home theater system, and I'd like to be able to
control everything from the sofa. Regular wireless gear doesn't quite have
the range, unless I put the base station in the middle of the lounge room.
Although it might make a handy conversation piece if I did that.

In particular, can you combine an MS keyboard with the Logitech mouse and
base station? I don't like the feel of the Logitech keyboard, but their
mouse looks better than the MS version (and it uses rechargable batteries).

Crossposted to csipgr because that's where all the off-topic stuff hangs
out these days. Crossposted to csipgs because it looks kinda lonely without
all the off-topic stuff.

Shouldn't be any problems mixing the devices on the same Bluetooth
adaptor.

you may want to look at the Logitech MX1000 however if using on the sofa
- the laser lets you use the mouse on almost any surface (shiny
magazine, glass table bench, sofa fabric, jeans etc) while the normal
optical mice are far less considerate.

Depending on how large your lounge room is the RF wireless could be fine
for the distance. (if you get the MX1000 you'd probably want to display
it in the middle of the room anyway :))

The (microsoft at least) bluetooth does have a very noticable wake up
time when it's been inactive which the RF doesnt suffer. If using the
system as a remote it would deffinately annoy me & the other users.

It should all work together, but you might want to stick with the
logitech keyboard...it is a better keyboard (IMHO)

Hmm. I gave both of them a go, and to me, the feel of the MS keyboard is
better. The Logitech one is a bit stiff for my tastes. I've also had
another MS board for ages, and it's always been excellent.

Annoyingly, it looks like for both MS and Logitech, you can get either the
mouse alone, or keyboard + mouse. No option to get the keyboard itself. So
I'll have two mice regardless of which one I use.
