recently i have got a hdd wd400eb and cant create any partition on it,
bios
recognizes disk (in cylinder reduction mode as 32gb), example error
messages:

partition magic 8 : Init Failed: Error 100 Partition Table is bad

fdisk (w98): Error reading fixed disk

fdisk /mbr (w98): The master boot code has NOT been updated

some other programs: Int13h error 04h, Sector not found, Read error

tried soem linux/fbsd fdisks and the similar result

tried to reset disk using debug script... nothing positive

any chance to fix it? i tried bootmaster but as unregistered version can
not write anything

Sounds dead to me. Especially if Linux cannot do anything.
Other than MS-braindeatware it does not get confused by
the data on the disk. Same for fbsd, I guess.

Download WD diagnostics program dlgdiag.exe from the website.
